The baby picture at left was found folded in half in the bottom of a box. Apparently, coffee had been spilled on it many years ago, and it was thought to be ruined. When found recently, however, it was discovered to be the only known remaining copy. Repairs involved removing the stain and the crease (the picture had almost completely separated in two) and restoring contrast and brightness.
This carefully posed recent photo, although positioned to take excellent advantage of natural light, had a cluttered, distracting background. Replacing that background and cropping the photo made a big difference.
